The Federal Building

The Innovation Underground is housed in the Federal building, which was originally built in 1910 and served as the Old J.A. Myers Post Office until it was acquired by the government and rebuilt in 1915.  The building was Bryan’s only post office until the 1960’s and has also housed the IRS, the City of Bryan and now the first Innovation Underground.

Constructed in Renaissance Revival style, the one story building is covered in red brick and it’s basement, accessible by a flight of stairs from street-level, is surrounded by homely courtyards and vibrant trees.  Along with the Innovation Underground’s tasks of materializing vision into opportunity, the Federal Building’s majestic feels fits in perfectly with the culture of art, live music and fine dining arising in Downtown Bryan.
